  • I think the point of alana’s video is to present solar punk as an access point that synthesises a lot of pre-existing concepts for people interested in the aesthetic to explore. it’s strength lies in its ease of accessibility for those that want to envision a better future but are stuck in capitalist realism. Eco-socialism, permaculture, communism, anarchism, degrowth etc. are all synergetic through the medium of solarpunk

    I know for me personally I was exposed to anarchy because I thought the solar punk vibes in arcane were cool and I wanted to look into it more. As a result, I’ve been involved in my local activist and anarchist scene, as well as embracing a more ‘solarpunk’ lifestyle with my friends and local community (which just means relying less on capitalism to exist in my everyday life.)

    Do I think it’s an answer in and of itself? Not really, I think it’s very internet coded. But it gives me a nice vision of the future which I’m finding important at the moment.
