I think people become less likely to adopt a new service with each one that falls. This could be for the best as I hope it turns into real word engagement with other humans leading to less overall interpersonal conflict.

Just want to add that if you have a very busy sub, the feed gets overwhelmed pretty quickly. Basically if sorting “new” was manageable, RSS works well. If you needed to leave “hot”, you’ll have to weed through it.
