Personally, I do think Puerto Rico is basically a colony in all but name. But I know people living in Puerto Rico now who disagree. And I tend to defer to the people actually living in The Place when it comes to discussions like this.

I don’t. And because it’s an admin setting that can be toggled easily, any websearch you would do to find other people talking about instances that don’t downvote should probably be double-checked with the instance itself. Even mine had a brief discussion about changing course and enabling downvotes.

You’re not the only one asking this. Lots of museums are putting in place policies against exhibiting human remains and working on repatriating remains they do have.

I think how a person treats cats/pets can be an indication of how they treat others. Similar to watching how a date treats people working in restaurant and hospitality industries.

Even if a person dislikes cats, I expect them to not be assholes about it. Don’t pick on the cat. Don’t monologue on how awful they are. Realize their world doesn’t revolve around you and be ok with that.

Boost also has a tagging feature. Their Lemmy app may be even better than their old reddit app.

A few dozen users, mostly bots or people posting in non-English with their accounts setup incorrectly to tag it as English.

Actual humans who I think are idiots or trolls, I’m more likely to just tag them instead of blocking them. I see the tag and it reminds me not to waste my time answering them, but I can still see other people making interesting responses. Like there’s a chronically depressed dude who posts frequently, asks for advice, then insults anyone who replies. He caught me twice, then I tagged him and I no longer take his bait. But some other people who reply to him have genuinely good comments and I can still see them.

Yeah, just “sigma” goes back to sigma male claptrap. But as with all internet memes, it evolved super rapidly and took on layers. “Sigma” started to mean just “the best”, not in reference to male hierarchy necessarily. Then there was a cartoon clip with Squidward from SpongeBob where he said “what the sigma” and it went viral.

Websearch “what the sigma meme” today and you will get text and video explanations of the meme for old folks like you and me. I prefer ones from teachers who interact with middle schoolers; our frontline troops facing the bleeding edge of internet memespeak.

Sleep in, a leisurely breakfast, a drive out and maybe a hike to see the leaves changing, some chill time listening to music in my comfy chair, a nap that may turn into canoodling depending on how we’re both feeling, toodle around with some hobby projects, out to pub trivia or live music with friends. Same sort of thing I do most weekends, minus any bills or housework.

I subscribe to the digital stream of radio stations through my podcast app. WFUV out of New York City, WXRV out of I don’t know where, some random station out of Sydney, Australia I stumbled on that has an EDM DJ on at the same time I’m waking up on the weekends.

I also have Spotify, but I tend to get better recommendations from real human DJs at radio stations.

Compared to most people in my IRL, yes. Compared to lots of people on Lemmy who work in industry or are much more serious hobbyists than me, no.

As to your edit, I would not recommend PM’ing the user directly; that may be very unwelcome and further breach rules of that community. Personally, I would have asked the mods for a chance to edit my comment and apologize publicly. But with previous history of your self-described “psychosis”, if I were the mod I would be skeptical of your motivations.

Usually when I make a mistake while trying to act in good faith, I apologize. Posting about the interaction without apology and flashing names of non-mods involved is not the way to correct your mistake, nor to garner sympathy.

Of course it could happen. Do I think it will happen in the next two months as we get through election season? Nah.

I also don’t think a civil war in modern days would look anything like it did in the 1860s. Aside from the obvious advance in weapons and tactics, there’s no convenient clear line between one half and the other like there was with North/South. It would look more like civil wars do in other countries in the 21st century.

Look under the “stats for nerds” for the YouTube video, note the codec used, and websearch from there what quality of audio that codec results in.

Hoping someone else has more than that; my audio interests do not carry me down the particular rabbit hole of defining quality levels. If it sounds good to me, it’s good.
