I never really thought about it, but isn’t the question actually “why do opposite charges attract?” Doesn’t it come down to stability? The universe likes equilibrium and combining opposite charges is an attempt to equalize.

The anti-war statement is directed at the psychopaths doing the bombing. Showing them how people are suffering after being bombed doesn’t affect them. Its an attempt to show them how they might regret their own decisions. At the very least it might chip away at the people who support them.
The people who make movies about depressed soldiers are usually trying to make an anti-war statement. American is not homogenous. There are people who bomb without remorse and people who try to point that we shouldn’t do that. Bombing without remorse is not something that can only be tied to one country. It can be tied to psychopaths of which quite a few have weaseled their way into power.
I think I agree with you, but your messaging could use some work. I feel like most people who aren’t already in the same groups as you might struggle with the terms you use. It might be simpler to say “capitalism corrupts democracy” because my original read of the post made it seem like its anti democracy.
I struggle to find the points in your posts. Yes capitalism has a great many problems. I agree about doing something about it, but are you also suggesting democracy is bad?
I made no assumptions. If Bernie ran as an independent in 2016 he would have had a split vote with Hillary allowing Trump to win still. Most voters might not be loyal to a party, but enough of them are. Any third party will have to split their vote with one of the other two which will give the win to the party that doesn’t split. Its not naive, its how things work. I wish we could have a third party, which is why I support ranked-choice. We currently don’t have ranked-choice, so any third party will just hand the win to the worst party. I’m all for potential third parties to run in the primaries, but then they can’t be independents. Definitely no third parties in the general though.
There is no such thing as a viable third party in a two party system. Until our elections require 50 percent to win or have ranked-choice there will only ever be two parties. At best you could hope to replace one of the top two, but you would have to see a complete collapse in their support first. After seeing a significant portion still supporting the current admin, I don’t think complete collapse for either party will ever happen.
That’s why my favorite euphemism for sex is “bumping uglies”. Its just a perfect description of it.
I haven’t hung out with anyone outside of a family gathering in years. I’m most comfortable at home alone. Thought I might eventually get lonely but so far hasnt happened.

My bad. “Please expand” to me sounds like you’re asking how they’ve gone too far in a possibly disbelieving manner similar to asking for a source.

… are you having trouble opening your eyes? You have to ask your eyelids politely?

This sounds very familiar. I don’t often try to talk politics around my family anymore, but they still feel free to regurgitate whatever nonsense conservative news has riled them up about around me. Its way to annoying to ignore, so I try to set the record straight when they do that. It doesnt matter though. I’ve completely laid out all the details on a topic, and they just stare at me. When I try to get a response its usually along the lines of “I don’t know about all that, but I’m not going to acknowledge that anything you said was right”. Its like they have to go check fox news before they know how to respond. They just assume I’m wrong about everything before I even start talking. Its rich coming from people who are constantly misinformed, and by their own admission don’t know much about any topic I’ve tried discussing. I’m on the verge of telling my dad “I want to think of you as a good person, but I’m running out of excuses for you”.
I liked the character’s from Project Hail Mary perspective. The fact that we experience less time the closer we are to the speed of light is almost like an invitation to explore the stars.
Another things that gets me is the time experienced by black holes. We would think of the black hole at the center of the galaxy as some enduring, permanent thing, but with so much gravity, from the black hole’s perspective it may only exist for a fraction of a second.
If only the media would cover epstein the way they covered this…

And if its voluntary I would more likely categorize it as a hobby rather than work. I think we need a better definition for “work”. Work, to me, is an obligation. People work in order to feed and house themselves. So let’s says someone has $10mil. That is more than enough to easily live off the interest. I would say anyone at that level of wealth never actually works because they have the option to stop at any time, which in my mind makes it a hobby.

I’ve seen several articles about protests against tourists in Spain. I didn’t bother to read the articles, but I think it’s about housing prices being driven up because of air bnb. So maybe stay in a hotel if you go there?

All in favor of changing it to “as fast as possible” show your hands. From here on the phrase shall be AFAP.
The Renaissance was a time of a vast labor shortage. This allowed workers to demand higher wages, and it also allowed leisure time to study new things and make new art.
Its been a long time since I’ve seen the movie but I always thought he was an anarchist who just wanted to burn everything to the ground.
