The math is the same no matter which agency you are talking about. The funds either get invested in a market paying a return or you need a much larger working population than a non-working adult population paying taxes to maintain these payments.
The math for the next few decades does not support the idea that the government can afford to cover retirement as Gen X is so much smaller than the Boomers unless they take in a lot more immigrants which is unlikely given how racist Americans are right now.
There’s no path for you to retire.
Ok so if you’re an American you cannot count on social security to exist unless it can invest in the market. You have a massive glut of old people and fewer to replace them. That means your government cannot afford to maintain social security unless your population grows substantially and it is shrinking.
SO if you don’t plan on killing yourself you will either need to move to a nation whose population is growing OR you need to become a stock investor via mutual funds. You will have to become what you hate.
