Everything began when I discovered Shattered Pixel Dungeon while idly scrolling the Play Store. The pixel art caught my eye, so I tried the game and soon became a fan.
I wandered into the Pixel Dungeon subreddit to learn strategies and post screenshots of a lucky run. Then I noticed some moderators (00_Evan@lemmy.world) were moving to Lemmy. Curious, I followed—that’s how I found Lemmy.

Joining Lemmy changed my life. I learned how much privacy matters and started caring about tech, FOSS, etc.; if I hadn’t noticed or taken an interest in the game, I might never have found Lemmy and would likely still be relying on Big Tech’s products.
Last but not least, I want to shout out to Oleg Dolya (watabou), 00_Evan@lemmy.world, the fork makers, and all the contributors for creating such great FOSS games and amazing communities. They are true gifts to the community—and to me.
(Actually, I’m not a new Lemmy user. I had an account on another instance before I deleted it for some reasons).
