I don’t know if this video is actually any more effective than the “philosophical” ones, but I appreciate the time he spent collating real world examples. The biggest and most serious example I can think of is simply data breaches. Year after year these big companies show that they cannot be trusted with your data - they consistently fail to protect it from criminals. You would think the regularity with which these big companies fail consumers would prompt many to reconsider how much data they actually need to be sharing in the first place, but unfortunately even when people are literally affected in the real world they still refuse to wake up.
