Regarding 23 people dying of drug OD in public bathrooms, it takes a special mind to see that statistic and say “yup, the problem bere are public bathrooms.” Not saying that’s what this dude concluded but that seems to be the given rationale behind closures.
It also ties in back to the fact that there is plenty of work to do but unemployment is still a problem because a job like maintaining public cleanliness does not make a corporate fat cat fatter. Having a public washroom, free drinking water etc. in a public space is a simple straightforward way to elevate the human condition. You can just have a person who needs employment do a job that needs to be done but that violates the principal doctrine of neoliberal austerity.
