As I’m sure most people would, I almost just hit Checkout but happened to see the text below. I am also sure I would have caught/removed it from the check-out page but maybe not. I did complete my order without ‘package protection’ but am sending an email and probably won’t order again unless their response is acceptable.

Edit: I’ll probably send the email after I get shipping confirmation :)

    You’re lucky in that case

Having shipped packages commercially myself and managing online shops at work, there’s a significant amount of lost and damaged packages here. Especially when uninsured packages are used

And I’ve experienced it multiple times that people get angry when you basically tell them to pound sand, because they didn’t want to pay a little extra

Now you have the option to make a loss and ship it out again or have an angry/sad customer. As well as a significant amount of support ticket work

Or you can just not do that, the shipping is a little more expensive, and everyone is happier in the end

Yeah, this thread has me reconsidering and thinking I should just embed the cost in shipping.

I mean, if it works out for you, it’s totally fine to give the option. For a lot of shops it’s just not worth the hassle. Really depends a lot on where you ship from and where to
