    I love mechanical pencils. If you still wanna pencil, check out mechanical ones. There are loads of good options out there, including ones that spin the lead with each stroke to keep a consistent sharpness and ones where the lead is suspended via springs so it doesn’t break as easily, as well as ones with retractable lead sleeves so the lead and the metal pipe at the end don’t break when you move it around.

      I’ve avoided wooden pencils my entire life because of it. I love the ultra-fine 0.3mm graphite with a retractable sleeve, like you suggested. It’s funny that I’m fine with scratchy graphite on paper, but hate scratchy wood on paper.
