The main issue most people have is Framework’s response, they claimed they were a “big tent” that accepted people like DHH, and there was a lot of promotion of Omarchy on Framework’s social media as well.

Instead of apologising, he didn’t budge.

I still think FW is better than the other companies though (Asus, Dell, Lenovo, HP especially, etc.), as they probably support plenty of equally horrible people. Most of them are also close to authoritarian leaders who don’t have a very good human rights track record.

There aren’t many good alternatives to Framework unfortunately, aside from buying used machines and more niche companies like System76, Tuxedo Computers, and Slimbook.

I do know that System76 recently released a Panther Lake device with competitive battery life, but it doesn’t have upgradeable memory (it’s a fixed 32GB for everyone, so at least it’s not soldered 8GB, but that also means it’s pretty expensive). It looks pretty interesting, and hopefully there will be more reviews comparing it to the FW13 Pro!
