i notice this issue whenever i watch new films–everything looks so sterile and uninviting. culture has taken on this showroom/instagram aesthetic that gestures to class but has no character, taste and doesn’t look like anywhere where anyone would actually live; it’s nowhere where anyone sensible would want to live, at least.
calling it minimalistic is disrespectful because that word and style aren’t mutually exclusive.
