    My guess:

All testcases are passing, all verifications say everthing is ported correctly, only problem is that nothing works.

They will need to spend a year manually debugging before they can release something in alpha quality .

From reading the blog post, I’m guessing you’re right. They now have to understand what the AI did and clean up after it. But they will do so with more AI. It’s doubtful there will anybody who actually understands the codebase.

Maybe, but you’d be surprised how many shitty, low paying shops exist out there that pull stupid shit.

A few of my graduates went to one locally where they did not have a single version control system setup. Granted this was about 10 years ago but 2016 was still in an era where they should have known better.

You had a fuckton of newbies and non-coders who schmoozed into positions basically live editing prod.

It can’t be quite that bad; they’ve been shipping the rust version of Bun with Claude Code since v2.1.181 (released June 18th), and I haven’t seen an outcry over all related functionality breaking

Why is the article talking so much about the lack of new release tag if the rewrite is already being shipped?

The author probably didn’t know. I believe that the 1.4 build is only available via the bun self-updater as a “canary” release. It hasn’t been officially released yet
