I am buying a house because fuck landlords. I’m being kicked out of my place by ‘no fault’ and I’ve had enough of living at the whims of another money hording person being a dick… Ok rant part over… This new house is old and a bit beat up but solid enough to start a life in. It also has a big (by my standard) garden which I have no idea what to outside of just ‘plant stuff’. I don’t have measurements or know the size of anything, but I want to somehow give some of my space to those who don’t have any and make it a place to share. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts?

You could also drive around and chat up and ask other gardeners. Or farmers in your areas. It really depends on local climate and soil.
As for community, ideally you’d find people first who actually know what they are doing and can teach you a little.
In a temperate zone for example, you need about 250m² of potatoes to grow enough calories to survive (this is my math, please don’t trust this blindly). Plus vegetables of course. But calories are easier to buy than vegetables.
