    Communism refers to the ideal of “from each according to the ability to each according to their need” instead of a class based society.

    The fact that the largest well known groups of self proclaimed communist were , at best, “dictatorships of the proletariat” does not negate the idea either. Kind of like how the US has bold claims in its creation that all men were created equal with inalienable rights, but still had chattel slaver for over a century and still struggles for that fight too.
