For example, in my city (Curitiba) temperatures below 5°C and above 30°C did happen in the past, but extremes to both sides seem to be way more frequent nowadays, as if summers became hotter and winters colder. Max historical temp was in 2024, with 35.4°C. And last summer we got a full week past 30°C. There’s something clearly wrong happening.

I get that, but right now there is no summer heatwave going on in South America, right? It’s winter after all?
Yeah. But we got one some months ago, and will likely get another in a few months.
