One neat thing about solar and wind energy, that might have national security implications in light of recent events, is that it’s really hard to blockade.

Absolutely disgusting. I don’t even live in America and yet I feel so furious at this. The nation which is supposed to be leading the world instead seems all too intent on dragging it and everyone with it back to the stone age.

California was 67% powered by alternative sources in 2024:

    22.8% Solar

    13.8% Wind

    12.5% Hydroelectric

    11.1% Nuclear

    5.0% Geothermal

    1.9% Biomass

    Source: California Department of Energy

We have also been adding an enormous amount of battery storage to the grid. Cheap (but large and heavy) sodium batteries don’t work well for cars but they’re great for stacking up next to solar farms.

Meanwhile Republicants whine about how it can’t be done. Fucking losers. The sad fact is that the US is diverse and a place like California is essentially a modern country but we also have petrostates like Alaska and Louisiana that fall apart without oil.

Even the Saudis know oil isn’t forever and are trying to diversify their economy. But the hellhole that is Louisiana is so corrupt it’s worse than a kingdom.

This is happening as the nation is in a massive heatwave that’s about to cause unbelievable electric bills to a large chunk of the country since we already barely produce enough energy as it is… Idiocracy grows by the day

Wind doesn’t always blow and sun doesn’t always shine, but oil lasts forever!!! We’ll literally never run out! Can’t fail.

We still have two Constitutionally mandated opportunities to take our country back by the book, the 2026 Midterm Election, and the 2028 Presidential Election. If MAGA pulls any shit, and keeps the White House through nefarious means, especially if they keep Trump in office, THEN it’s on, and as far as I’m concerned, EVERY MAGA Traitor dies.

I did an experiment with this - knowing nothing about this guy, I was like “I bet he either worked or currently still works for the oil industry.” Then went to Wikipedia and the second sentence of his article is:

Before leading the U.S. Department of Energy, Wright served as the CEO of Liberty Energy, North America’s second largest hydraulic fracturing company

    Nailed it lol

Good news! (For him) Under the current lack of rules he probably didn’t have to give up any of the stock in Liberty Energy! Hope that works out for him (not really) when we start living under the rule of law again.
