For example, there’s two versions of the Switch 2:
Japanese Switch 2
- Price: ¥49,980 ($310)
- Language: Japanese
- Warranty is only bound in Japan
- Japan Nintendo Account only accepted
American Switch 2
- Price: $450 + Tax
- Languages: Multiple
- Warranty is only bound in United States
- Nintendo Account from any region accepted
There’s a catch you got to be aware of: warranty is rescinded when you take hardware out its bound jurisdiction unless you are willing to fork out more money on having it repaired by a technician. Knowing that, should you import it or pay MORE, it’s $450 for a console plus tax but the warranty is entitled to US consumers. The same thing applies to any console really.
Why not buy used?
No, not because of warranty but because Nintendo is a shit company and they will find a way to lock block brik fuck the console only because of that.
And the price saving isn’t worthwhile the hassle: yes it’s 50% more in US but it’s 450$ not 2000$.
Exactly this!! Fuck Nintendo with a rusty spoon!!!
My concern would be if I could buy local games and use them in my imported console.
I would if I was fluent in Japanese. Warranties can’t be trusted. Usually they have loop holes a company will use to avoid replacement. Even if you replace something you still usuaully have to pay a charge.
I would simply wait for the emulator
