In the west, they teach that communism = authoritarianism and totalitarianism. They teach that no one would willingly let an elected government plan anything, and therefore we should submit to the will of random ass rich people.
OK so the current communist leaders aren’t random ass rich people? I’m pretty sure if you ranked the North Koreans by wealth, their current leader would miraculously be #1.
Funny comment, because nobody knows how much Kim Jong-Un is worth. It’s estimated that he has more than 5 billion USD, whereas the next richest person seems to be Cha Chol Ma with more than 100 million USD in net worth.
I couldn’t find a list of the richest people in North Korea, but I’d be happy to be proven wrong.
So please give me a list of the richest people in North Korea if you believe the Supreme Leader isn’t on #1. Otherwise your comment is just as speculative as mine.
You’re the one making the claim. You have to prove it. The burden of proof is not on people being skeptical of your unsourced seemingly unfounded nonsense.
I’d be inclined to agree with you. However, the initial implication is that communist leaders are different from random-ass rich people. That means the burden of proof lies on the person saying that.
I said “I’m pretty sure”, clearly denoting that this is an educated guess. I didn’t say “I know” or “it is fact”. This is because I know that finding exact numbers will be very hard, given that I don’t speak Korean and don’t think that this information is public in any case.
I’d actually be happy to be proven wrong! If you find any good sources, let me know.
Communist leaders categorically are not random ass rich people, they’re elected representatives. You’re still the one who made the claim about the DPRK which was not mentioned in the original comment.
True, I stand corrected. Obviously the leaders of the DPRK are elected and not rich compared to the rest of the country. Your evidence is overwhelming.
There’s a difference between “true” communism or leaders claiming to be communist but actually being oligarchs.
In my opinion “true” communism is a great thing but never worked until this day. The thing is, capitalist countries would do anything against a successful communist country, as it threatens their narrative. The few promising ones (Cuba for example) were beaten into submission or undermined by secret agencies.
I’m not saying communism is bad, but that the current “communist” leaders are also just random-ass rich people (or rather, rich people, but certainly not random). In my opinion, the leaders of a country shouldn’t be rich. Actually, nobody should be extraordinarily rich, as wealth should be coupled to the amount of good a person brings to society, apart from universal basic income everyone should get, to live (not just exist).
I despise the capitalist ruling class. Worst example is the USA where they just basically bought themselves a government, but the EU isn’t much better with the rampant corruption and lobbyism.
Obviously the leaders of the DPRK are elected and not rich compared to the rest of the country
2 separate questions. They are elected. Some or undoubtedly richer than average. Some are not.

Likely not your fault but you clearly don’t know or understand what socialism and communism actually means in reality.

Except this is just nonsense. In China we have a flourishing democracy. Direct elections reach the township and county levels where voters choose deputies to local people’s congresses. These grassroots deputies constitute the overwhelming majority of all deputies nationwide. Advancement to higher levels requires proven service at lower rungs, ensuring every national deputy has worked up from local material conditions and remains accountable to the masses below. All 55 ethnic minorities hold guaranteed representation in the NPC. Farmers and labourers comprise roughly 15% of deputies while professionals and technical personnel make up the remainder.
but the EU isn’t much better
I don’t know why you’d expect imperialist US client states to be better than their leader in any meaningful way.

Behold, the pinnacle of liberal logic
