They suck. They do not protect all identities. And if you want to apply those laws, you most often have to go through a legal process or courts which claim to be objective but actually are heavily favoring the oppressors. Those laws can also be changed / removed any time by the current goverment.
They suck so much, even in their best possible implementation anarchists would not find them ideal.
That said, till we actually build the power to protect ourselves and our communities from oppression & discrimination, we probably will have to use them when we feel they will help us survive.
The way they’ve been weaponized in the USA, Britain, and Germany to defend Zionism is the key real-world example of how they can be exploited and how dangerous they can be.
They are enforced in such a way it creates more racism. A youtuber named “what is politics” made a good video on them
I know.
I liked his first videos on Israel-Palestine, particularly his perspective on the jewish experience leading to Zionism. However, I didnt agree with his perspective on arabs/palestinians, can’t remember why without re-watching the series.
Also, him caping for Noam Chomsky being buddy buddy with Epstein and Steven Bannon is throwing up a red flag, maybe this guy is more reactionary/ignorant than I thought.
