So I noticed today while at my moms house and looking at my Jellyfin server through her account she is able to add movies and tv shows to existing collections and even create new collections that show up for everyone else. Can I disable that for any user outside the Admin account?
So after doing so additional digging I found, on the forbidden site, that this is a left over from Emby code that all Collections are public domain. Anyone that has access to collections can Create, Add, and Delete collections/collection items. While I think this could be beneficial in certain cases I don’t like that all my hard work could be easily undone by a friends kids messing around. I know I can tell my friend not to mess with them but it’s not a guarantee someone won’t accidentally add or remove something. It would be nice if we could have an option to lock it (which “Lock this item to prevent future changes” does not prevent these changes)
While it’s not a complete solution to the problem, you can make regular backups of the collections local file, so if a kid screws something up, you can revert the changes.
And if we’re being honest, you should probably do make a back up of your jellyfin folder onna separate drive so if your shit fails you aren’t starting from scratch.
Ahh good idea! I do make a weekly backup of all my appdata so that is something I can restore from if needed.
Appreciate the response!
