In a recent Matrix blog post dated November 24, they wrote:
“Matrix 1.9 is due out next week. Keep your eyes peeled for an update.”
This means that we can expect the new version this week. All new features are described here.
The most important are:
- Role-Based Access Control
- Account locking (by server admins) [MSC3939]
- Official spec support for custom emojis and stickers [MSC2545/MSC1951/MSC3892/MSC4027]

Have you heard of Element X?
Yes, it’s the least horrible app, but still not that great. I tried the new version of element as well and it’s even worse, lol.
I’m pretty satisfied with Fluffy but the clients do still need a lot of work indeed.
