You need two people –exactly two!– arguing about semantics; one person chiming in every fifth comment with a paragraph that no one can tell if it’s a cogent point made by someone with a poor grasp of language or the ramblings of an unmedicated loon; one person earnestly asking questions they probably could have googled but didn’t; and about three or four people earnestly trying to answer those questions but none of whom know enough about the subject to shut the thread down with a comprehensive answer.
It is of supreme importance that everyone except perhaps one of the semanticians treat the non-native-speaker-slash-loon as though they are commenting in good faith.
