Per the very first reply on their thread discussing it in their forums, which I linked directly to for the post title:

However, what’s gonna happen should the attempts to age-gate the XDG portal screw over alt-init distros like Artix too? My guess is maybe they start blocking regions which force age gating like Arch Linux 32 is doing.

I’m planning to migrate my main desktop over to this distro. I was fairly happy with EndeavourOS for the last few years, but with systemd’s recent bullshit, I think it’s time I move on.
Meanwhile people are making excuses for systemd licking the boot while locking community discourse on age verification.
Well yea, the people complaining about systemd are morons. They don’t even know what they are angry about so they make shit up, and when their lies are exposed they hand wave at some vague slippery slope fallacy and cry. They deserve to be locked out of the discussion on official channels because they offer nothing but ignorance.
The first step always seems innocuous don’t worry they will do in baby steps so people like you don’t notice it before it’s too late.

Just age gate the download. If it’s just the “enter your bday” it might be a good way to wiggle past this nonsense for a while
Unfortunately that also wouldn’t satisfy the requirements put in place by several operating system level age verification laws.
Well I guess the solution is to move away from those jurisdictions who have gone insane.
