You mean because of the indirect implication of a male target audience? I didnt think that was specifically what OP asked for, especially since they used ATLA as the shonen counterpart.
Korra is definitely intended for a more mature audience. It deals with the same mental and social struggles as ATLA but in a more mature and impactful setting.
