Sure, and construction workers hit nails with hammers before they had nail guns.

Sometimes tools make doing the same things faster. Using AI to recolor a complex image based on a starting image instead of doing it by hand is just doing the same thing faster, like a lot of other tech that is used intentionally and not just vomiting something based on a few keywords.
