The riots died down and the majority of people support the status quo. That’s literally what happened. Hong Kong is doing better now than when they were a British colony, that you seem to wish they remain.
Why did the riots died down? Was it a decision by the people or had the Chinese state step in to crack down the manifestations by force? Have you seen the images of Chinese police attacking protestors and people?? Are you selectively blind?
It was both. Police cracked down on violent protestors, and the protestors gave up as well. The pro-colonization side lost and now most people support the status quo. Capitaliats are still upset though.
The west does indeed try to force violence into protests they back, yep! Arming and radicalizing people against socialist governments is a tried and true tactic of the west.
And please tell me, how can you radicalise an entire people to the point where they are ready to put their lives on the line for the ideals you presented them with? Couldn’t it be that these people share those same ideals while rejecting the ones being forcefully placed on themselves by what they see as a dictatorship? It was never “an entire people.” The rioters were a minority of the population, with many people (and many more now) accepting inclusion into China and no longer being a colony. Those that did riot were not “brainwashed,” as brainwashing doesn’t exist, but instead were largely under the belief that they benefited from the colonial system (or in many cases truly did). The west colluded with elites in Hong Kong to orchestrate these riots and create a picture of a city fighting to remain under British colonial rule, but in actuality the protests died down and now people generally are happier being folded into China.
So 1.7 million people protesting against the Chinese government are a minority of the population? Your delusion is reaching unseen boundaries, please tell me more about how peaceful and respectful of minorities is the Chinese government
