I see a lot of HA users using the Ring Keypad to arm/disarm their alarm over Z-Wave. I’m suspicious of Amazon, probably overly so. I just tore out a Ring doorbell. Having said that, if this thing can work entirely free of cloud dependencies, it may still work for me.

Can the ring keypad phone home or exfiltrate telemetry data about my network? Does it connect to this Amazon sidewalk network they’ve created?

I don’t want to give Amazon any window into my home.

IMO you can never be too suspicious of companies. Especially ones interested in your data.

For your keypad, if it is zwave only you are probably fine. But if it has any WiFi capability let alone requirements as most do, then no. You can control your network but if you aren’t hooked into AWS then you can’t alter settings, and assuming you get sidewalk turned off, I would still expect it will likely piggyback data through sidewalk anyways because fuck consumer line go up.
