Woke is from AAE/Black English and made its way online and thus into the awareness of other cultures through at first American republicans and then other conservatives. Thus it has no different meaning, AAE/Black English is its originating source and American republicans (and other conservatives) misusing it, or at least criticising it, is how it came over to the UK.
Anyway, our point was not to criticise the OP but to explain that too much has been appropriated and/or twisted from Black Culture, especially online and it needs to stop. A lot of ‘internet slang’ is that way and needs to stop being used by those it does not belong to.
