For me its like they keep getting upset when a protagonist isnt a good person or a messed up person! Like why?! Is it because of western media?! (Asking this as a USA person myself) its also like they cannot decide for themselves wether they wanna see something or not.

So, they see a single youtube video and they go muh show bad! Oh for fucks sake just sit down and enjoy what you wanna watch, yes some stuff won’t be for you and you won’t like it that doesnt mean you need to whine about it and attack others for liking those things!

Like this is so common for some reason, like I never seen a person say “uh I dont care what your opinion is and I didn’t ask for it. I like it so, what?” I cannot fathom why! Its like they cannot accept people like different things and won’t watch what they want to watch.

News flash! Some actually are tierd of goody two shoes main characters! Its like they go muh problematic! watches anyway and complains Dude, anime isnt supposed to be that deep! Just watch what you like and research what an anime has! Don’t like ecchi?!

Don’t fucking watch high-school dxd. Its like they dunno anilist or myanimelist exists…are they casuals?! Just because you don’t like something doesnt mean you have to or can tell others “don’t watch it!” Dude…they aren’t you! Yeah end of rant, what about you?

OP, I have no idea what is going on here, but you have somehow ended up spamming replies to your own post. I don’t really want to remove this post as I think it is a perfectly valid discussion topic…but just chill a bit?

Erm I was just replying to my post that’s all, I don’t see this as spamming, I’d like to know how come you seem confused? Im just passionate that’s all, erm I am chill though, unless you mean to stop posting so much? Erm unless lemmy culture is more different, which I apologize for because I recently came here. And uh if you mean chill a bit as in are you okay? Im fine no worries!

All I did was reply to share new thoughts overtime and expand new ideas, as I know of it the terms of ani.social and this community doesnt forbade such replies.

No offense but why say erm “chill a bit?”, I dont see anything wrong here, if its because you received too many notifications, maybe turn them off or scroll away or close the tab? No offense but you didn’t have to reply like that or at all, note this isnt a sarcastic or passive aggressive reply, this is a reply to genuinely understand your intent and why you replied with that in the first place.

As all I was doing was being passionate, many communities out there send multiple replies to their own posts as fo form a discussion, so why is it the problem here with you? No offense. Also if those have a problem with my post they can ignore it as its not against the instances terms of use or this communities specifically.

Hey, it’s alright. It is all too often that a post like this where a single user is making a lot of replies, is actually a bot that is not changing profiles between posts. It is much more common on lemmy (as opposed to microblogs like twitter/mastodon) to simply edit your existing posts/comments if you have additional thoughts to add. So, don’t be surprised that you are going to probably garner some downvotes simply for the volume of replies you have produced.

Oh then that makes sense, if said people dont like that then its fine, I don’t really care if they dont like that, but I do will keep in mind to do that next time. Eh, if those people downvote for that reason its not my problem anyway im not entitled to make everyone happy.

I get really salty when people point at patterns in anime that are sort of objectively bad and claim that they’re fine because that’s “just Japanese culture”. Like, I’m really tired of being told I’m overreacting when I say maybe anime shouldn’t glamorize pedo shit or make characters that are racist or homophobic stereotypes. Save “it’s just Japanese culture” for when I’m complaining about the cute mascot character’s annoying verbal tic, lol.

Also, this isn’t specifically an anime thing, nor is it specifically a western thing, but I get a little frustrated with “it’s just fiction”. Fiction is constructed out of the worldview of the creator(s) and will always contain at least some of their ways of thinking. All art contains some meaning to it, and teasing apart exactly what a piece of art is trying to say is typically both useful and fulfilling.

Hello, I do agree with you that people shouldn’t condone it but accept that it is messed up and not justify it, but its what is in the specific show or whatever media however.

And this “Also, this isn’t specifically an anime thing, nor is it specifically a western thing, but I get a little frustrated with “it’s just fiction”. Fiction is constructed out of the worldview of the creator(s) and will always contain at least some of their ways of thinking. No offense but this to me is incorrect, you say fiction is constructed out of the worldview of creators and that art always has meaning?

Im sorry but sometimes that’s not true. Many Japanese media make this type of art because they can and feel like it, say for example does the author of overlord support genocide? No! But why did they make it? Its simple…the author likes dark media, sometimes authors are just tierd of writhing morally good characters and want to write about dark things because a fresh air in writing and sometimes because they are bored.

Remember sometimes humans are just simple and want to make things simply because they can, you wouldn’t say every single isekai slop has meaning would you? Aside from cute characters? If you feel frustrated that’s fine its your emotions after all but you shouldn’t ASSUME that for every author in the world, humans always has in idealism and that no one is truly the same, right? Yeah that’s my reply on what you said. Dont like it? Thats okay, hate it? Thats okay too, its just how you feel that’s all, you can do whatever you want with this reply or just chose not to read it, its your body, your eyes, your brain. And also fiction is ment to be a sandbox for ideas and fun actually, would you say a story a kid made has to have a deep meaning? Not really right? Or maybe you would. Anyways, Im having fun interacting with everyone!

People who are way too horny for underage characters, and get extra defensive about it when anyone dares to say that shit’s gross.

Weebs who idolize Japan even they know nothing about it beyond what they learned from anime, and constantly use it to put down the west and western media.

But most especially when the above two overlap with right wing talking points, frequently used to push a narrative that the left is coming to take away your anime titties. I’ve noticed this becoming more and more of a serious problem.

Is that a western thing, considering which countries have which ages of consent? It seems as a norm, Japan itself has a problem with underage portrayal, as opposed to weebs enjoying what they produce a bit too much. I’d never consider weebs, let alone that sort of weeb, a “western culture” thing.

… though agreed conservative fuckos seem to want to make it a new norm in the west…

I do agree that is very creepy and makes me myself a minor very uncomfortable, “erm do they actually want to date someone my age?!, type of uncomfortable 😨” erm yes it is fiction but they need to stop! Seriously, like em? Okay but please calm down… I don’t understand why some people like to say japan is better than west, nope not true. Everywhere has its own issues and cultural issues, humans are not perfect at all. Those types of weebs need help.

Yeah ik not anime but, is it?! Do they not understand anime tropes and Asian culture?! Even I know the number 4 is seen as an omen over there. Unless stuff changed lol.

Maybe if America taught more about realistic ideals, Asian history and how the world is just morally Grey. Maybe we wouldn’t have this situation with these types of western anime fans…😭

In japanese culture…heros always were morally ambiguous…see tale of genji! Never read it but I know the protagonist is also kinda scummy!
