Made a new year’s resolution a few years back to quit drinking cheap beer, and drank nothing but local craft IPA’s for a whole year and became even more of a raging alcoholic drinking 4 or less IPAs every night, than when I drank a 12 pack of cheap beer every night

If you’re looking to wean yourself off of it, I was able to cut back by just stocking liquid death water in the fridge. I used to drink 4-5 cans of beer a night and then replaced it with 3 beers, one water. I found for me at least just holding/drinking from the can was enough for me to cut back one can per night for a few months, and then did the same down to two cans of beer per night.

At first I thought the idea of canned water was so dumb, but realized some of my addiction was not the alcohol itself, but just the act of drinking, and if water were in a beer can, that would be a foot in the door to change my habits.

Pretty much my story exactly. I’ve been going 2 or 3 days a week without lately though. The alcoholism creeps up on you. I’m never drunk per se, but I’m almost always buzzed before bed. I’m trying to cut it out though.

The first time I quit was cold turkey and i had insane night terrors. I relapsed after my father passed, and the last time I quit i stepped down a few beers every night, drinking progressively smaller Miller Lite Tallboys (they have like 4 damn sizes) till i completely quit and started drinking Nonalcoholic IPAs as a reward instead of drinking them because i NEEDED them. Its not easy, but its possible! And i love having a Nonalcoholic beer every other weekend or so.
