Plants in swamps die -> organic matter on the bottom of the swamp -> peat -> brown coal -> black coal. Oil apparently comes mostly from plankton. No, most coal comes from plants in swamps, because the water helped preserve the organic matter.
Plants in swamps die -> organic matter on the bottom of the swamp -> peat -> brown coal -> black coal.
Oil apparently comes mostly from plankton.
