I might want to buy it one day (maybe once the price drops). I liked Diablo 3 for situations when you come home and just feel like slaying thousands of monsters – you know those days. I had some trouble getting the gearset right, but waddled through that somehow. So, questions:

  • Is Diablo 4 playable on PS5? (In terms of a well done console port)
  • Are the game mechanics more complicated than in the previous version? (That might break my neck)

Bonus question:

  • It’s not as terrible as Diablo Immortal, right? ;)

I haven’t tried it on any platform, because I don’t support ActiBlizz games.

I played the beta on PS5. Gameplay is pretty solid, and it’s somehow challenging at certain bosses.

My feeling was that game doesn’t feel like Diablo but rather than a well made rpg/hackNslash game. It’s a good game, but not Diablo good.

Maybe it’s because I got cold on Blizzard for thousands of reasons.

RPG/HackNSlash, haha, that’s actually how I felt with Diablo 3 already. But I didn’t play it „professionally“ at all. For me, it was just a bit darker and more complicated version of Torchlight, tbh.

Okay, so it seems safe to buy. It’s on the watchlist now. Thanks!

I love Diablo as a series, but honestly I don’t think it is worth $70 if it’s $45 to 50 or less I would recommend picking it up and I spent $100 on the ultimate edition. I am enjoying it myself, but I love arpgs and hack and slash games

Yeah, the price is pretty high. Considering the massive amount of playtime I can dump into it, I think it’s okay to pay some cash, but 70 € is too much for now. I will wait for a discount, that usually takes a few months only.

I have to be honest, I balk at £70 game prices to, but if I get as much play out of this as I did D3 over the years its not bad value for money.

-I’m currently playing on PS5 and I love it. I have had zero bugs. -I don’t find it very complicated, but it is more so than the previous entries. -It’s easily the best the series has been in 20 years.

How is the visual performance for you? I played on PS5 during the beta, and even in some very early-game areas, I was getting some major drops in quality. If there were more than ~10 enemies in the vicinity, their animations would drop to like 15 FPS while the rest of the game ran at ~60, and was looking jarringly bad. It ended up making enemies look like 2D sprites, so I’m hopeful that they improved this in the full release!

My experience on PS5 with my wife has been beyond exceptional. Best local coop I have seen in a terribly long time, basically since the end of that bygone era.

Ah, local coop is something I completely forgot about, good point. Currently I have only one controller though, I play alone most of the time and can charge it while playing, so there was no real need for a 2nd one yet. Hmmm! 🤔

I’ve been playing it on both my SteamDeck and PS5, it plays very well and is a lot of fun! It’s been a few years since I’ve played Diablo 3, but I think I’m enjoying this one more. So far, I haven’t found the mechanics complicated, but I haven’t opened everything up yet.

as somebody consdering buying a steamdeck, have you tried emulation at all? I’ve been using a RG35XX atm but it’s quite low power and as a result can only really handle GBA/SNES games - I’d love to play some Wii and DS games on the go.

I haven’t tried emulation very much, though I’ve heard others have been having a great time with it. I got one PS2 game running on it that my wife used to love playing, and it runs great.

Can’t speak to the PS port, but the Series X version is fine. My only real issue is getting used to the dodge being on a button and not the right stick like D3.

Once you get used to the cooldown on it and work out what attacks you actually need to avoid from particular enemies it works, but there’s a learning curve.

    1. I am currently playing it on PS5 and it plays great (like D3).
    2. Slightly more options, larger skill tree and of course a Store. You will have no problem as a D3 vet.
    3. TBD … (sorry, I am very bored with it).

I play on both PC and PS5.

Some builds are more annoying than others with a controller and the “helpful” targeting assist that seems to make me want to throw the controller at least as often as not.

BUT it’s nice to be able to chill on my couch when I feel like it, especially if I’m just mindlessly running around completing map or Lilith statues or something. It’s totally playable. Mechanics are more complicated than D3, but in a good way.
