While the patent calls the design a folding chair, this is not the same design that OP adds into this image. This is designed for churches, the legs are fixed and do not fold. The seat portion folds up, the back of the chair has a fold down portion to hold a book (presumably for hymns or just to hold a bible.

This would be a lot more akin to theater seating… or stadium seating.
