There has been some controversy in the BattleBit community over the fact that they will implement an anti-cheat that may stop Linux users from playing the game.
Luckily, the developers have confirmed that they will use a new version of the FaceIT anticheat that will still allow Linux/Steam Deck users to keep playing. They will be the first game to implement this feature.
Thats awesome, it seemed like a good pickup for a FPS fan but the lack of linux support in the future stopped me from looking too much at it.
Been looking into this game. Is it any fun?
It’s a great game, multiplayer shenanigans with friends.
The public audio is almost entirely people having fun which is a lot more to be said than a lot of other popular online shooters.
The public audio in BattleBit is a gem of the internet. I can’t even describe it.
one of the best games I have played in recent times
That’s good news! I have friends that keep recommending it, but I was turned off by the lack of Linux support.
I’ll probably stop playing when they switch to that anti cheat
I don’t want any software having kernel permissions.
Not a fan of linux games having specialized support?
Not a fan of kernel level anti cheat
That’s fair, I sometimes enjoy valorant but despise their anti-cheat.
Yeah I’m kinda bummed because this is the most fun I’ve had in matchmaking since Halo 3
As long as its in user space, sb fine. Does this need admin privileges to run?
I’m on windows. It is kernel level on windows. I guess I could run it in a Linux vm though considering how light weight the game is
Think this is the most important question on this issue I don’t think it will be just user space.
