Woodcock, who spoke to librarians in Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, and western New York, has observed a rise in requests for DVDs, Blu-rays, video games, and 4K Ultra Discs at ‘braries all around the country.
Fuck yes, libraries are awesome, and I’m so glad that people are turning back to them.
BTW, this is a good reminder to patronize your local branch today and, if possible, throw some money their way.
i can walk to my small local library here in rural Australia and luckly my local taxes (rates) pay for it. I can also use the Overdrive App to borrow and read my library books on my Kobo. I walk down once a fortnight and get a book or three out even if I don’t read them, chat to the librarian etc
Its only a tinu library but they can get in whatever I want from all over the state. I.also don’t own a printer and use theres for the occasional print job at 20c a page.
My local library offers a selection of movies and a projector to watch them on! Honestly I think we should normalize going to the library for a date or hangout and, yeah, something like a regular Friday night library visit for movie night
I mean movie night worked in Star Trek Enterprise to bring the crew together so I bet it would work in real life too!
